(WRITTEN BEFORE LOCK DOWN)

Spring 2020

I started the New Year with something new and have continued my exploration during the last three months.  Alongside my printmaking I have been using paint and collage to produce some new wall art.  My plan is to incorporate my printing into this work and make some mixed media  pieces.

Scots Pine Studios in the garden of 4 Clayton Avenue, Hassocks BN6 8HB is now open regularly on the fourth Saturday of each month which coincides with the Hassocks monthly market.  My opening hours are 9.30am – 1.30pm.  Alternatively if you contact me I will open by appointment.

Three of my original linocut works have been sold to a brand new department opening at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, which I am absolutely thrilled with.    Unique Arts in Hove are a new stockist of my work and we are currently in the process of arranging for larger giclee prints to be produced to sell both online and elsewhere.  This will be great as several of my more popular linocut works have now sold out and this will make them available again in larger sizes.

As those of you who follow me @suecollinsart on Instagram will know I have recently become a grandmother.  This has been absolutely fantastic and life changing.  To see your own daughter bring a new life into the world is just heart melting.

Continuing to be a member of Chalk Gallery in Lewes, working as the company secretary and stewarding every three weeks gets me out and about during the quieter exhibiting months.  These months early in the year are an excellent opportunity to create new work and I have been making the most of them.

I will be making an appearance with a wall space at bn5gallery in Henfield during the months of April, May and June.  The gallery is in the High Street and is open Tuesday to Saturday.

Scots Pine Studios is once again registered and waiting to take part in the Brighton Open Houses during the festival.  It will be open for the first four weekends in May.  I am also lucky enough to be exhibiting at two other venues during the festivities being ‘Unique Arts’ in Hove and ‘One Six Nine’ on the Fiveways Trail and

I will be joining Veronica and other artists at Longleys Studio Barn in June which will raise money for St Wilfred’s Hospice.

June is also the time of the Adur Art Trail in Shoreham-by-Sea.  I will be exhibiting in the lovely Skyway Gallery during the time of the bi-annual trail.  Finally for June I will be at the Hove Park Art Festival Weekend.  This is a new venue for me and sounds like great fun.

Being a Featured Artist at the Chalk Gallery in Lewes is something that I am looking forward to.  This is for three weeks and starts on the 20th July.  I therefore have the opportunity to display more work than usual by taking over and fully occupying the window.   I must also mention the Grove Theatre in Eastbourne where my artwork can be seen from the 21st August until 3rd October.

Finally, for 2020 I hope to be taking part in the fantastic Horsham Contemporary Art Fair which runs over a weekend in the middle of October.

I think this covers my artistic plans for the forthcoming year.  If you would like to know more about my work and see it in process then please visit my Instagram site @suecollinsart where I usually post daily.  Many thanks.

Autumn/Winter 2019

I have been working hard on creating some new winter prints using the ‘reduction technique’ and a festive theme.  ‘Winter Hare’ features a sprig of mistletoe, while the ‘Winter Stag’ is standing under a holly tree and ‘Winter Partridge’ was completed during November and has poppies as I had thoughts of Remembrance……

These original linocut prints are currently available framed at Chalk Gallery Lewes

Christmas Cards are also available at my usual venues and from my Etsy Shop.

Chalk is holding a Christmas Event,  ‘Advent’ Saturday on the 30th November 2019 from 2pm to 4pm at the gallery where you will have the opportunity to meet many of the artists, peruse our work and enjoy our delicious mulled wine and tasty mince pies.

I will also be taking place in the Brighton Artists Xmas Open Houses this year at  unique arts in Hove which will also include this framed work together with digital prints and cards.

Throughout November and December my work will be on display at BN5 Gallery in Henfield.  I will be at the Gallery on the following dates from 9.30 am – 1 pm if you would like to pop in:  19th,  21st and 28th November, 5th, 13th and 21st December.

Summer 2019

I have had such a busy summer and ‘Sunny Sussex’ the heart statue that I decorated for the ‘Heart Trail’ featured very heavily. The trail was organised to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice   I was very happy that the heart was very generously sponsored by Metrobus and exhibited outside their offices at Crawley Bus Station throughout the trail.  It has been great fun for all involved but more importantly an auction was recently held in Crawley for the hearts and more than £ 50,000 was raised for this very worthy local charity.
